Internet Safety
Parents need to understand that the greatest risk our children face online is being denied access. The Internet is essential to our children's education, future careers and lives. But even the most experienced Internet user doesn't understand how children use the Internet and how to help them have a safer and more enjoyable surfing experience.
But, this wonderful tool comes with some risks and many parents have already had some personal experience with just how dangerous the Internet can be.
In today's technologically-based world, our children and particularly our teens, are often more computer savvy than we are. However, they are often naive to the risks that this powerful tool poses or they feel those risks don't apply to them. They gain a false sense of security by virtue of communicating from the supposed safety of their home or their friend's home.
It is then the responsibility of the parents to provide their youth with good boundaries and tools in an effort to better navigate thewide world of the internet.
